Reinforcements Have Arrived

… this time in the form of some AFVs from Butlers Printed Models. I ordered six in total: a Patton and two x M113s for my local forces, a Shilka and an T80 for my Russians and an ERC 90 for my French.

I paid for the resin upgrade and scaled them to 1:72 and I must say that overall they are pretty nice. They strike a nice balance between the level of detail and a robustness vs overly enthusiastic wargamers. They feel solid in the hand and have a really nice weight. I am a particular fan of the Patton and am definitely tempted to buy another (which my local forces admittedly don’t need).

That said, there were a couple of issues … notably the T80 looks like the wrong scale – I think its about 1:80 but I’ll need to check. The ERC 90 also has something of a limp barrel, which I might fix with brass.

The only other gripe is a lack of texture on the tracks – they’re totally smooth and it seems like a weird design decision. You can’t really notice it from above but from model eye view it does look odd and I don’t know why a link texture hasn’t been included.

Printing and postage was prompt and I’d definitely use them again. The tracks are a slight shame but I think I can live with it – (Butlers if you read this can this be fixed?). Anyway, I’m really looking forward to getting these painted up and onto the table for play testing.
